Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he enjoyed participating in numerous card games when he was young. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would often wager against one another. He was able to access a number of the foremost players in chess. Howard Lederer also assisted his sibling Annie Duke learn poker. He told Annie to head out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker tournaments. Annie is one of the strongest women players the poker arena today. Howard Lederer headed to Sin City in 1993 and competed in money games for the successive 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
