Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing web poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money rounds?
